Winter Chills

Winter chills Well, you may have noticed that we have been really busy this winter. We managed to bring back a lot of your favourite styles in winter fabrics.       There are beautiful autumnal prints in the Kittys as well as taffetas for the evening. The Nazare made a short return visit. The Laura proved to be very popular again so we may try and make a summer version. Teamed with a raglan blouse or a Slash neck top it’s perfect for day or evening. We made the... Read More

High Rockabilly 2017

The girls and I decided to take a long weekend off and head to the beach for some Rockabilly fun. I had a last minute distress call from Deke Dickenson to say his luggage had been lost and could I bring him some shirts so I stopped off at the shop and picked up a few to see him through the weekend. We arrived in Barcelona and took the tour bus to see the sights and a lunch stop in the food market before taking the train out to Calafell.... Read More

Christmas is coming

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year. I started making our Christmas dresses early this year so we had a great selection of Novelty Prints and Satin. Some of the Christmas Kitties still hadn’t arrived at the time of writing this so we can still look forward to seeing them. I worked really hard and it has certainly paid off. I know it is sad when you miss out on one of the special prints but if we don’t keep it short and sweet we wouldn’t be able... Read More

Pretty for day time

When I was a child my Mum was a big influence on me style wise. I used to love all the photos from when she was young. What a glamorous time. One of the looks that stuck with me was her in a simple tea dress with her hair swept up. This was a heavy influence on me when choosing styles to make. It is classy and timeless. Our Tea Dress has a loose fit button front bodice with padded shoulders and piping accentuating light gathers. She has an a-line... Read More

The Peggy Lee are back

It has been a few years since we last made the Peggy Lee dress but every now and again someone posts a picture of themselves in theirs and the requests come flying in. So here she is back by demand….see we do listen! We have been making Peggy Lee for over 20 years now, this time I decided on lots of cute novelty prints. The long requested Ladybird print, and the cute Teacup that was so popular in the Kitty dress. I had managed to loose the patterns somewhere along... Read More

Nazare Dress

Our beautiful Nazare has arrived. Made from a crisp cotton linen she is such a classic 40’s beauty. Where do I start. the neckline is modest so she can be worn at work or out in the evening. With an elasticated gather across the shoulder and bust it softens the lines between these gorgeous puff sleeves and the fitted yoke on the front. The tie at the back allows you to pull the yoke tight for an even more flattering look. You will feel every bit the movie starlet when... Read More

Jojo’s Blouse

Summer has been a bit slow coming this year so we have been bringing a little fun to the office by making novelty prints. We have had Teacup Kittys and Scooter Tea Dresses and you loved them all, they flew off the rails. Next we made you Lobster Raglan blouses and now we have more Scooter prints in our Jojo Blouse. The Jojo Blouse came about when my friend was running the legendary Madame Jojo’s bar in Soho. They were having a lot of 1940’s style events and wanted something... Read More

All the fun of the fair at Dreamland, Margate

When I was a kid one of the most exciting things to happen was the fair coming to town. The rides would always have Rock ‘n’ Roll playing, and Teddy Boys with slicked back hair and creepers would tend them.     Today, you might be lucky and a vintage fairground may come to your town, or you can bring on your own luck and visit Margate’s wonderful Dreamland. With the site being used for entertainment since 1874, it seemed the perfect place for a 1950s Fun Park.    ... Read More
